Tian Mi Mi Monday

Our glorious day of tian mi mi is coming to a close. When everyone else was out working and suffering the Monday blues, me and my babi were holed up in our own world.

Morning started 9.30am with us two pigs actually waking up in time to make it to Ang Mo Kio wet market. Me and my smerriest breakfasted on old school chwee kuay, orh kuay and chee cheong fun (great stuff!). After that, we grocery-shopped at the wet market and AMK Hub's NTUC Xtra in preparation of the cooking ahead.

For lunch, I toiled over my na shou dish...idiotproof stirfried vegetables, and fried onion omelette. Babi steamed a stubborn small pomfret which refused to be cooked (my babi had to steam in twice more after it was initially done before it was edible). Yummy!

After I grumpily cleaned up our oily kitchen and my stinking self, we headed for Compass Point library. I was delighted to find 2 out of the 8 books on my list of To Borrows. Babi got his usual Chinese novels and a muscle mag, then we were off to Gelare for ice-cream...macadamia nut for Babi and dark chocolate for myself (I don't eat any flavors other than chocolate; it can be different variations of chocolate, but there must die die be chocolate in there or it's a no-go...the stickier and chewier the better, i.e., Ben & Jerry's NYC Triple Fudge).

Afternoon nap was preceded by a bout of book-reading. I finished up Patrick Suskind's Perfume in record time. This was the first time in 7 years that I actually finished a book within 3 days, no thanks to Babi's wu li qu nao's demands to turn off the lights when he wanted to sleep. I usually read better at night before I turn in, so this greatly affected my ability to finish what I am reading. Babi can be a real nabeh when he kena possessed by his inner Spawn. Kekekeke!

For dinner, Babi cooked the most yummilicious beef fried rice and I whipped up another idiotproof contribution...yong tau foo soup! No choice lah, the idiot is all thumbs in the kitchen and can only manage the barest basics. I am marginally better at cleaning and laundry though, so I'm not entirely useless. I also have Babi to thank for not being useless...I married a slob who leaves newspapers, books and mugs all over the place, i.e., if I don't bring the mugs out of the room, there'll be 5 or 6 used mugs decorating our pc table by the end of the day lor. What to do? Got to clean up after a Big Baby...oops, I mean Big Babi. :p

All in all, it was a very fruitful, fulfilling and productive day off with Babi...truly quality time, if I do say so myself. At least we cooked both our lunch and dinner today, and I did some cleaning (of course lah, I am less bai ka bai qiu than Babi, whose idea of a productivity is to nua on the sofa, fart killer stinkers and bark, "Pui eh, pao Milo! NOW!" ).
