Wat a fuck up world!

Went to Womad with CT, ZY & Cacy & discovered it is actually a mass gathering for expatriats, foreign students, Singaporeans who lived or studied overseas & any other person who speaks with some funny accent. Hahahaha. There were some Heineken ladies walking around inviting all the ang mos & everyone else to some private party EXCEPT the locals. How fucked up can it be! Can't stand the place & left after an hour.

After Womad, the 4 of us decided to have dinner near Bugis. Women being women (including CT) can never make up their mind. At 1st, it was Thai food but the place didn't accept credit card nor Nets and the 4 of us had a combined total of $50, which CT claimed it wasn't enough cuz he was going to eat like a pig as he was super hungry lor. So we changed our mind and decided to have steamboat at the 7th storey. Was surprised that there was no crowd. In the end it turned out it was becuz the steamboat sold out leow. Then we decided to eat ‘look back grass’ which is the Thai food, but still we have no cash. Me being the ever super nice me volunteered to go withdraw $ at Bugis Junction. The stupid ATM on the ground floor closed at 10pm, so I had to go down to the basement to withdraw $. When I came back, my 3 good buddies changed their mind & decided to eat buffet ma la steamboat instead & the best thing is the place they are in take credit card! Damm KNS! Wasted trip but still ok cuz me bery de nice one. The 4 of us happily sat down for 30 mins before plates & bowls were laid for us. NVM cuz we bery magnanimous de. Started ordering food & after 3 rds we discovered someting really weird. Nothing much came except plenty of cabbage & mushroom. Asked the waiter wat happened & he said never cum means dun have leow lor. Damm TL! ‘Politely’ tok to the waiter & requested to speak to the Manager. Took the asshole forever to cum & she brought with her some of the claimed "Dun Have Leow" food. Blood was boiling but still managed to maintain my cool & spoke to the Manager ‘politely’ about their fucked up service! Dinner was totally ruined for me but my 3 companions were still happily eating their food. We ended the nite with a tour of Geylang. Hehehe. Let CT off near Kallang MRT station & I bet he walked back to Lorong 10 for 'Tao Huay'. Hehe.

If you think tat is it for my fucked up world then you are so wrong. Was going to the movie with Pui Pui on Sunday at AMK. About to park my car when this KNN driver drove up so close to me that I was unable to reverse into my lot. Signal to him that I wanted to park but he simply ignored me. Went down & asked him ‘politely’ wat the fuck he wanted. He told me I did not switch on my parking light so he did not know I am going to park & he was not going to reverse for me, & insisted that I should move forward for him to exit 1st. Wat a KNNB CCB Asshole! Told him there is no such thing as the parking light cuz they are called hazard light. Stupid ass! Told him there was no way lim pei was going to move & I could wait for as long as he wanted. The SOB got no balls & decided to reverse for me to park in the lot. Justice finally prevails! Hahaha. Wat a fucked up world!

Seeing Stars

Today for the 1st time in my life I nearly fainted! It was a usual day of me going to the gym to train my legs when out of nowhere I began seeing stars. I wobble to the toilet & juz laid on the dirty toilet floor. Forced myself to get up to try to vomit or shit so that I am able to shake that terrible feeling away. Was sweating like hell while shitting & still feel like blacking out. Luckily, the feeling went away after I was done with shitting. Hehe. Went back to the gym, packed my things & had a hot shower. Feeling really weak now. No idea what juz happened. Pui pui suspect I might have low blood pressure, cancer, diabetes & some other incurable dieases. Hahaha. Was wondering is it becuz of insufficient sugar intake & I used too much strength. Rule that out too cuz I had a really heavy breakfast. So freaking weird! Feeling better & still going for dragon boat training 2morrow. Another overloaded boat but that is a happy problem. Hope everyone enjoys the session as much as I do. Hehe.

猪我生日快乐

This entry came 18 days late, no thanks to heavy procrastination + a persistent feeling of general illness since my fake dengue episode a few days before my birthday. Since then, it's been endless outbreaks of fever, sore throat, headaches, backaches, joint-aches, limb-aches and killer lethargy (boh pian, lao charbor is like that wun...here pain, there pain, everywhere oso pain). I think I probably need a wheelchair by the time I hit 40. Can die leh...I'm actually whining about my ailments on my birthday blog...sibeh typical of a naggy old hag.

So anyway, I blew out the candles of my birthday cake on 29th July, surrounded by closest family (no other way I'd have it). Dinner was Italian, at Valentino's located off Rifle Range Road. I enjoy the food there + ambience is homey and cozy + service is tiptop, but seems that I'm the only one who likes the food. We partook in seafood pizza, fried calamari, 2 different types of squid ink pasta, grilled lamb with rosemary and herbs, basted sea bream and tiramisu cake my Babi got from Tiramisutra (Valentino staff, not to be outdone, served me a complimentary tiramisu...which tasted nicely bittersweet). I had to hear a whole barrage of complaints about the food ("so-so only lah", "what's the big deal?", "I dunno how to enjoy Italian food lah", "you call that nice?") to character putdowns ("she's always like that wun lor, go for fashionable only, never quality", "typical of her to choose this kinda place"), but fair enough lah...one man's meat is another man's poison - only in this instance, one woman's meat is five other persons' poison. But hey, it's my birthday.

Here are my birthday presents from Babi...not 1, not 2, but 4 of em! Hehe! My favorite tiramisu cake (another favorite being rich chocolate flavor!). A bouquet of sunflowers (my favorite flowers, along with tulips!). A scuba diving Swatch which I've damaged since then (am going to get it repaired soon, but dunno when cuz I'm sooo lazy to venture downtown these days). And last but certainly not least, my Babi really nailed it with the super-adorable multicolored Kipling handbag with spade, heart, diamond and club prints...which I immediately fell in love with (and have been carrying it everywhere ever since)...it sure helps that there's the cutesy signature monkey attached to the bag lah). My Babi sure knows my taste (youngish and colorful).

We had a great weekend off, mostly tian mi mi staying in, eating out or watching movies. We're simple folks and that's how we enjoy life together...regardless birthday or not. Of course, in true time-honored tradition of the Gans, the birthday celebrant gets to be super pampered and doted on by the partner for the entire day...a right redeemable only on the actual birthdate. Babi was literally my slave for the day, waiting on me hand and foot. Of course I was loving it...when else can I abuse Babi by ordering him to make me a glass of perfect iced Milo, just the way I like it??? Kekekekeke...I'm sure he's already plotting his revenge on me for his next birthday. Ahhh welll, that's still a long way off, so wait long long lor. :p

881

一人一半,感情不散。I was never a big fan of Royston Tan but I really like his latest work, 881. Really like the whole setup of the Getai. I watched Getai before and I always felt it is a really old school form of entertainment from my parents' generation. Like the noise and excitement that cums with it but can never fully understand the full content as my hokkien sucks! Today, coincidentally is the 1st day of the 7th month when I watched the movie. I was kinda surprised a young director is able to shoot a movie that is so rich in the local content. I pray that my kids (if i ever have any) will get to see getai, enjoy the rich culture of the seventh month when they are growing up. Love the auction in Hokkien during the dinner! Sometimes I feel we are losing more as we move forward. Chinese New Year no longer feels the same as before. Zhong Yuan Jie is not as happening when compared to the 80s. I hope the evolving of our society stop robbing us of what we used to hold so dear to us. Guess I am an old school kind of guy.
