We finally managed to train for the 1st time after many rds of NATO (No Action Talk Only)! A total of 8 rowers turn up and we have a smashing time. There were some minor hiccups in the beginning but it all turned out to be alright. Looking forward to the next training!

Lackie Chan

Let me introduce you to Lackie Chan (a deliberate mispronounciation of Jackie). Actually this little tyke's name is Jermaine Gan. Lackie got the nickname (that stuck like glue) because she used to wear that 80s Jackie Chan hairstyle when she was younger. She is more or less a permanent staple in our household, contributing to the noise and merriment factor. Without her around, home would be a silent graveyard.

Lackie is my brother-in-law's kid, and let me tell you, don't let this clownish countenance fool you one bit. This little seow ji has a mind of her own and a matching temper to boot. Little Lackie just blew out 2 candles on her birthday cake, and got 2 birthday slaps from this auntie (whom she calls Ah Um).

You see, Lackie loves to be slapped. And she's damn good at making a whole Oscar-winning performance of not loving it. But she can't fool me. Nope, not Ah Um. I chase her around the house brandishing my open palm. She bashes on my door and then throws her little hands to her chubby cheeks when I open up. How can she not love being slapped when she laughs so hysterically everytime my palm connects with her cheek?

Her idea of patting you to sleep is to repeatedly beat the shit out of you. She's the only tot I know who shrieks, "Put me up!" when she really means, "Put me down." She gets into fist fights with classmates half her size, and won't hesitate to use her plump little fists make her displeasure known. One thing for dead certain, little Lackie is no pushover. If anything, she will be The Bully.

Lackie is an orh-bit queen, a trash-talking rubbish-eater, a hardcore Ah Lian in the making. She has no morals to speak of, just really really xian shi. Dangle food in her face and she'll follow you. Feed her and she'll love you. Do it often enough and she'll forsake her parents for you. Bring her out gai gai, and she'll adopt you as her parents.

Purple is Lackie's favorite color. She loves Barney because he's purple. Her favorite drink is Ribena, which is purple. She has this Baby Polo Ralph a shade of pinkish-purple that would look bizarre on other babies, but looks absolutely amazing on her.

Everybody loves Lackie. Lackie, the stand-up comedienne. Lackie, the stubborn mule. Lackie, the crazy clown. Lackie, the cheeky monkey. Lackie, the tantrum-thrower. Lackie, the independent self-entertainer. Lackie, the energizer bunny. Lackie, the very verbose social butterfly. Lackie the little triad gangstress. Lackie, the sar kar queen. She sure wears many faces for a toddler, but we love em all because it is Lackie.

The Gan household should have a common family tee with Lackie's grinning face printed on it, accompanied by the words EVERYBODY LOVES LACKIE. She has her own devoted fan club, and yes, she actually answers to her nic Lackie.

My 1st 10 km run

Did my 1st 10km competitive run yesterday. Quite fun and managed to finish in just under 1 hr. Not great but not too bad either. Looking forward to the next run which should be the Mizuno Run at Bedok Reservoir on 22 July. 2 funny incidents happened yesterday. The 1st was my friend aka The Pig & I were supposed to be 2nd wave runners but we simply boh chup and ran with my other friend, CT, when the 1st wave flag off. We could hear all the road marshalls shouting at us as we run past them but we just continued running. Haha. The 2nd incident was CT LS along the way & had to use toilet bowl water to wash his hands cuz there was no toilet paper around. Haha.

4 down 3 more to go

Yes! 3 more duties to go and it will be the end of my ICT. After nites of toking cock with my fellow platoon mates, we reached the conclusion that what we are doing actually compromises the security of the base. Whoever thought of the deployment plan deserves to be shot cuz what we are told to do is check on pass holders and let non pass holders in, and at the same time letting them know how easy it is to get into the base. What a big joke! One funny incident happened during my ICT is the Ammo vs the Memo incident. One of my not so well educated buddy was questioned where he kept his ammo during his duty and his answer was it was in the bunk. It is a really serious offence cuz he is performing his duty without live rounds. In the end, it turned out that he did not understand what is ammo and misunderstood it as memo. He then told the officer that checked on him that he should have referred to bullets instead of ammo cuz he is a hokkien peng mah. Haha.

Killer menses & Gucci

Aiyo, can die! It's been quite a long time since I've had such a killer menses. Since my crimson tide started this afternoon, it's been nonstop pain. I feel as though my nabeh uterus is at loggerheads with my brain. Not even popping painkillers twice really helped. Until, painfully, I slept in the evening and woke up feeling a little better. Being a charbor is really wei qu. Every month have to bleed like a tap and suffer sickening cramps. I am keeping my fingers crossed that my smerri babi will make my pain go away later. I love my babi to message and sayang me to sleep. Hope he gets the not-so-subtle hint.

On a less painful note (though not much less pain cuz making decisions are so painful), I have NOOO idea what to get for my niao re. My babi was thinking of getting me a hifi set to fit around my iPod, but I'm not very sure about that becuz I'm not sure how long my iPod can last. I've been quite Gucci-seow lately, going in and out of Gucci boutiques to check their stuff out. I kan shang quite a few of their hangbags liao, but they are at least $700 upwards...maybe I'll get similar knockoffs from JB (I'm a cheapskate lah!). However I tried on a pair of black Gucci sunglasses today that made me look and feel like a superstar *drooool*. BUT as luck would have it, I already have like 10,000 pairs of shades...the last one being a pair of red Killer Loop that my babi got me. How??? Decisions decisions. :(
